Hi friends, after a long period we are come again with many healths related topic to share. During these periods of lock down and Covid 19 we spent more time at our home. So it is possible to eat too much sugar daily. Thus Troosta today gives full information about the after effects of eating too much sugar. Let’s start; As we know that eating too much sugar causes many health risks and most of us are still eating too much sugar without further knowledge. The WHO (World Health Organization) recommends that the limit of the sugar eating is not more than 5% of our daily calories. It is about 25 grams per day. We also find sugar content in many packaged and processed foods. One of the examples is a single can of soda; it may contain 39 grams of sugar which is more than the recommended quantity.
The following are the few main problems as a result of eating too much sugar.
1. Insulin Resistance
2. Increase the risk of type 2 diabetes
3. Weight gain
4. Risk of Heart Disease
5. Fatty liver
6. Skin aging
Now we can check what happens when we eat sugar one by one.
1. INSULIN RESISTANCE
All the time we eat sugar our body demands for insulin, which means a hormone produced by the pancreas. It regulates blood sugar levels. Repeatedly high levels of insulin as a result of a prolonged high sugar use makes resistance to insulin. It means insulin is less able to process glucose in the bloodstream. So it builds up. This insulin resistance can cause symptoms like constant hunger, fatigue, high blood pressure and also caused by abdominal fat. And this resistance of insulin increases the risk of diabetes.
2. INCREASE THE RISK OF TYPE TWO DIABETES
When insulin resistance is untreated it causes diabetes. It is a condition that the insulin produced by a body is not capable of processing glucose. We know that on these recent periods the diabetes patients are increasing. Especially those who are drinking alcohol regularly have more risk to become a diabetes patient.
3. WEIGHT GAIN
Sugar and high fructose included foods contain glucose and fructose. Sugar sweetened drinks like sodas, juice etc are filled with fructose. Each cells in our body use glucose to fuel its vital functions. Meanwhile fructose is used only by our liver cells. It shows that when we eat so much sugar, our liver gets overloaded and as a result of over fructose it turns into fat. So it is always keep in mind that if you want to reduce your loss first you should reduce eating too much sugar.
4. IT INCREASE THE RISK OF HEART DISEASE
High sugar sometimes related with an increased risk of numerous diseases like heart disease. High sugar may cause for obesity, inflammation high triglyceride, blood sugar and blood pressure levels. All these are risks for heart disease. Moreover when we eat too much sugar it caused for atherosclerosis, a disease characterized by fatty, artery-clogging deposits.
5. FATTY LIVER
We already discussed that only the liver can metabolize fructose. Too much fructose is a main reason for the development of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). NAFLD is a condition characterized by the too much fat increase in the liver without the influence of alcohol. Too much fat of liver leads to liver failure because this organ works overtime to try and process fructose.
6. SKIN AGING
Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs) are compounds created by the reaction between sugar and protein in our body. These are suspected to play a main role in skin aging. If we consume too much sugar this will leads to the creation of AGEs this cause our skin to age prematurely. Because AGEs harm collagen and elastin which are the proteins that help our skin stretch and also keep our skin youthful look.
